     Joseph Lücke was also known as Johan Herman Joseph Lücke. He was born in 1766, Warendorf, in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. He was employed as a chairmaker and laborer by 1790. He and Catherina Elizabeth Mersmann were given the Lucke property at Beckum, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany as a wedding present. Lücke was a cottager of the Mittrup estate and dependent of the Marienfeld Abbey at Harsewinkel. He is first mentioned in 1646. He is living tax free until 1668 -- he needed to pay no taxes because of resettlement. First property owner was Werner Lücke. In 1761, Jobst Heinrich Lücke passes the land to Johann Heinrich Mersmann, who takes the name Lücke. He passes the land to Josephus Lücke and Catharina Elizabeth Mersmann in 1790. In 1827 Hermann Buschkotter called Lücke (born 23 Dec 1777; died 24 Sep 1856) and Maria Aloysia Buckebrede receive the property for his first marriage. In 1837, Hermann Buschkotter and Maria Catharina Rothkemper receive the property for his 2nd marriage. In 1848 Hermann Westkamp called Lücke (born 1821; died 03 Feb 1868) and Maria Anna Lücke receive the property. Current owner (circa 1870) is Lütke Dorhoff. On Monday, 1 November 1790 at Sankt Stephen in Beckum, in Warendorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany Joseph Lücke married Catherina Elizabeth Mersmann, daughter of Johan Henrich Mersmann and (?) Unknown.1 Joseph Lücke and Catherina Elizabeth Mersmann had 8 children. Joseph Lücke died on 23 June 1814 in Ennigerloh, in Warendorf Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Cause of death was hemorrhage. He leaves a widow and five minor children.2
