István Sziebert

b. 19 August 1846, d. 9 November 1907
1900 Stephy Sziebert
     István, son of Károly Sziebert and Lizzi Schultz, was born in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary, on 19 August 1846.1 István Sziebert was the son of Károly Sziebert and Lizzi Schultz. He was baptized on 20 August 1846 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary Godparents are Martin Schaeffer and Anna Urban.2,1 On Monday, 6 February 1871 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary, István Sziebert married Katalin Trischler, age 16, daughter of Antal Trischler and Julia Pfeil. Married by Agoston Herr. Witnesses: Robert Schwartzkopf and John Krob.3 We have a photo of their marriage. István Sziebert and Katalin Trischler had 9 children between 1872 and 1893. All of the children were born in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary. In 1881 they resided in Pécs, Baranya, Hungary, 13 Janos Utca. This house was built in Pecs in 1712. On November 18, 1872, Nandor Szieberth bought the house for 5,000 forints. On January 19, 1881 at an auction Karoly Sziebert and Elisabeth Schultz Sziebert bought this house for 15,250 forints. In 1885 the house still belonged to them. This house in town provided a city dwelling for these rural residents to attend school or theater..4 István Sziebert was a wine merchant. When phylloxera struck Europe from 1863 through to 1885, he was abe to buy up grapes early in the cycle and produce wine when others had no grapes. in 1891 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary.5 He died of complications from surgery following leg amputation for diabetes. István died on 9 November 1907 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary at age 61.6,7,8 He was buried on 11 November 1907 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary.7
He was a wine dealer and farmer. He was considered a good businessman. He died suddenly during surgery leaving no will which caused an inheritance fight in the next generation.9

     Pál Stajevich was also known as Pavel Sztyevde. He was born on 24 March 1847 in Dárda, Osijek-Baranja, Croatia.1 He was the son of Matyas Stajevich and Agripina (?) On Monday, 12 October 1874 in Dárda, Osijek-Baranja, Croatia, Pál Stajevich married Borbála Reisz, age 25, daughter of Janos Reisz and Katalin Hofman. Married in the Greek Catholic Church of St. Michael the Guardian Angel by the Reverend Cvetko Milics, their witnesses were Joseph Hezpet, an innkeeper, and Christian Guszt, a bricklayer.1 Pál Stajevich died on 13 April 1893 in Dárda, Osijek-Baranja, Croatia at age 46. “My much-beloved husband, Pajo Stajevich, died on April 13, 1893 at 5:30 in the afternoon. We are all in deep mourning.”.1

Death came on August 10, 1901 at 5 PM in Darda. The orphaned children, Anna and Alex, are mourning her.
