Because Vilmos was Lutheran and his bride, Catholic, they could not be married inside the church so the priest married them quietly in the chapel. The bride's staunchly Catholic parents did not attend. The bride's sister, Terus, gave them a small reception after the ceremony. Her married name was Dia Manninger (Sziebert). Dia Sziebert died on 12 November 2003 in Budapest, Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kis-Kun, Hungary at age 87.

Lacko Sziebert

b. 19 May 1920, d. 17 February 1945
1943 May 29 Laszlo Sziebert PhD
Lacko, son of Károly Sziebert and Ida Heckinger, was born in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary, on 19 May 1920.1 Lacko Sziebert was the son of Károly Sziebert and Ida Heckinger. His baptism name was Laszlo Antal Sziebert. Lacko Sziebert was educated as a doctor of agronomy. He was an heir in the will of Károly Sziebert in 1943 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary; He carefully divided his farms and property among his four surviving children to prevent an inheritance fight such as he experienced when his father died. Lacko died on 17 February 1945 in Pápa, Veszprém, Hungary at age 24.
Lacko, the youngest was the apple of their eye, and now, he too was asked to serve. It was a brutal winter, everyone knew the Germans were doomed. Lacko and his unit was ordered to retreat toward Austria and Germany. Lacko and two friends decided not to go. When the train left they stayed behind. To try to escape was a real task. One of the soldiers decided to brave the elements and cross the frozen lake Balaton alone. The other two decided to stay together. They knocked on doors, but people were afraid to hide both of them. Finally, a priest, an old friend of the family decided to provide them with a safe place. Lacko and the friend were given civilian clothes, chores. They felt safe. Some enemy of the priest got a glimpse of the two strangers and reported it to the police. They were arrested, tried and sentenced to death by firing squad.
There were no newspapers, no radio, no one knew in Boly what had happened to Lacko. The family hoped and prayed for his safety. Vili Schmidt was able to shed some light on this tragedy. He got in touch with a priest Stephan Mester - who in 1945 was an army chaplain in the city of Papa. He wrote to Vili. Yes, indeed he met the young soldiers after the death sentences were read. (There were three unfortunate young soldiers). The priest was given two hours to prepare them for execution. The priest claimed that Lacko was brave and had a clear heart and conscience as he stepped in front of the executioners. He refused to wear a customary black eye shield. He stood strong with his rosary beads in his hand. This all took place in the year 1945, the 17th of February in the city of Papa, on a Saturday, in the courtyard of the cavalry.2
